Vite en tête, rapidement accompagné par le futur lauréat à son extérieur, il mena l'épreuve sur un tempo régulier, tous deux repartant de plus belle dans le tournant final. Pénétrant en tête dans la ligne d'arrivée, il biaisa complétement sur sa gauche dans la phase finale, finissant contre le rail extérieur, ce qui ne l'empêcha pas de remarquablement se défendre jusqu'au bout pour conserver une nette deuxième place.
