Après la victoire de Jan Brueghel devant Calandagan dans la "Coronation Cup" à Epsom, nous aurons le droit au deuxième round dans ces King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes. Si le premier n'a pas été revu depuis, le pensionnaire de Francis-Henri Graffard a depuis remporté facilement le Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud et va donc retraverser la Manche avec la ferme intention de remporter son premier Groupe I à l'étranger. L'élève d'Aidan O'Brien a quant a lui repris de la fraicheur et a ce supplément de tenue qui lui permet d'être très dur à la lutte. La balance penchera donc légèrement en faveur de l'irlandais mais l'ordre inverse est tout à fait possible.
Battu par Calandagan à Meydan mais possédant lui aussi des titres solides, Rebel's Romance jouera le rôle d'arbitre dans ce duel, tandis que Kalpana, seule femelle au départ, devra sans doute se contenter de la quatrième place.
